Coordinates, monitors and evaluates food procurement, display, and organization, for the Pickerington Food Pantry.

Ensures compliance with rules and regulations.  Utilizes computer to analyze service performance data, evaluates and makes recommendations to Executive Director for corrective action regarding distribution, policies and practices.

Performs miscellaneous administrative duties which include but are not limited to: preparation and submission of reports; processing records to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank; maintains files; and provides fiscal information for budgeting purposes.

Food Procurement

  • Coordinates, provides training, and instruction of volunteers regarding pantry operations: collecting and accepting food donations; cleaning, displaying and replenishing items.
  • Coordinates purchase of food from Mid-Ohio Foodbank and provides pre-receipts as required.
  • Ensures food orders meet the needs of the pantry, are checked, safely unloaded, appropriately stored, and are within the budgetary limitations of the pantry.
  • Coordinates community food drives, assists with delivery, processing and storing.
  • Maintains temperature log files.
  • Enforces Food Pantry regulations.
  • Coordinates food pick-up from sources identified by Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Picks up donations as necessary.
  • Maintains records of donations received, distributed, and provides donors with a receipt.
  • Ensure gift cards received for the use of pantry purchases are: recorded for budgetary purposes, assigned to volunteers for use of purchasing items for the pantry, and receipts for purchased items are maintained in files.
  • Fosters relationships with surrounding community food pantries and public services.

Facility Management

  • Ensures cleanliness of the pantry prior to of each distribution event.
  • Communicates with vendors to maintain equipment and facility (i.e. refrigerators, freezers, shelving, plumbing, flooring, etc).
  • Maintains regular communication with the Executive Director, makes recommendations regarding equipment, facility and to streamline the operation.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers are inspected annually.
  • Plans and gives tours of the facility to interested parties.

Client Service Distribution

  • Answers client inquiries regarding, and ensures compliance with, residency and qualification requirements.


  • Trains volunteers on use.
  • Assures consistent use and input of food orders.
  • Communicates with Mid-Ohio Foodbank on the development of statistical reporting.
  • Develops and runs reports for use by Executive Director, Board of Trustees, Mid-Ohio Foodbank, Fairfield County 2-1-1, and United Way and/or other grant reports.
  • Tracks food purchases by program area and provides billing information to Executive Director for payment.

Volunteer Development

  • Recruit volunteers.
  • Keeps volunteers and clients informed on Pickerington Food Pantry events, services, and surrounding communities services.
  • Maintains volunteer file to include: phone, email, drivers license and proof of insurance (if driver), acceptance of terms of volunteers service agreement, and volunteer service area of experience.
  • Attends and leads periodic volunteer meetings.
  • Works with Executive Director in the development of volunteer recognition programs to thank and honor individuals for service to the pantry.

Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

RESPONSIBILITY OF PUBLIC CONTACT: Daily contact requiring courtesy, discretion and sound judgment.

LICENSING AND REGULATION: Ohio Driver’s License and/or provide own daily transportation to various community, marketing and agency sites; work permit, proof of licensures/certification, certificate of completion of Safe Food Handling course from Mid-Ohio.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Telephone, calculator, personal computer including Microsoft Office software, copy machine, carts, dollies, and tables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is often required to walk, bend, lift, use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls and to reach with hands and arms.

The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Reports to Executive Director.

Part-time position (at least 15 hours per week).  Work is performed at the pantry, or at various off-site locations for meetings.  Requires evening and weekend work time special events.  Current hours include, but are subject to change:

Tuesdays             9:00AM to 2:00PM

Wednesdays      9:00AM to 2:00PM

Fridays                  9:00AM to 2:00PM

Thirty (30) hours of paid time off provided each calendar year.  Amount of paid time off provided each calendar year will increase with years of service.

No health or retirement benefits are provided.

COMPENSATION: Base salary negotiable. Payroll disbursed once per month, on or before the 15th day.

Limited mileage reimbursement for pantry business outside client service area.
